Summer Is Here!

The time for summer vacations is fast approaching. We would like to take this opportunity to remind all our Deerfield HOA members that the CC&Rs specify if you have a boat, camper or RV they cannot be stored or parked long term on your property unless they are completely screened in from the street and your neighbors lots. Please be considerate and maintain the appeal of our neighborhood by not parking these vehicles at your home for more than 48 hours.

The Sammamish Police Department has provided the following checklist of items to consider when going on vacation to better protect your home and property:

  • Notify responsible neighbors or relatives of your itinerary and contact numbers. Check to make sure that you have their
  • telephone number.
  • If you are going to be out of town for a period of three (3) days or longer, the Sammamish Police Department provides vacation house checks by sending an officer on random checks of your home while you are away. This service is available for City of Sammamish residents only. Please download the House Check Request form from the Police website and return to Sammamish Police, 801 – 228th Avenue SE, Sammamish WA 98075. The form can be found at: (See the Vacation Request Form pdf on the right side of this webpage)
  • Arrange with a neighbor to pick up and hold your mail and newspapers so they don’t pile up. If this is not possible, notify your news-carrier and the post office to discontinue these deliveries.
  • Do not leave easily stolen objects such as power mowers, garden hoses, lawn chairs, and bicycles in your yard.
  • Unplug your garage door opener so that your garage doors are secure. Consider placing a padlock through the track for extra security.
  • If your vehicle is left in your garage or driveway while you are away, make sure it is locked.
  • Close and lock all windows and sliding doors. Make sure that a “Charley bar” is secure on sliding doors, and that all screens or storm windows are locked or fastened.
  • Set your electrical timer to turn some lights on and off during the evening hours. Avoid publicity about your trip until you return home.

Hopefully, you’ll find these tips useful. Following them can help with security for the entire neighborhood.

Sports Field Reservation:

If you would like to reserve the sports field for an activity, such as soccer practices, please contact the Board directly. The field is available free to Deerfield residents. We have created an online calendar on our Deerfield website where you can check on the availability of the field and request a reservation,

Please be sure to keep up with yard maintenance

Finally, with the abundant summer sunshine, yard maintenance is even more essential. As a rule of thumb, we ask:

  • lawns be mowed weekly and edged periodically,
  • weeds are removed as needed (including on driveways, along fences and in the sidewalks/gutters adjacent to your house),
  • trash cans are stored out of sight from the street,
  • bushes, trees and plants growing out over the sidewalks or around and near the mailboxes be trimmed so as not to obstruct people using the sidewalks and mailboxes. Also, please make sure any trees are trimmed up so that people don’t need to duck down to avoid limbs.

Remember, this is your community please help in making it a great place to live by getting involved with your Association.
